Middleweight: 2011, Oct 10-16
In what very well may have been the final fight of Roman Karmazin’s quality career, the Russian took a beating for nine-plus rounds against #12 Osumanu Adama on Friday, prompting his corner to mercifully throw in the towel a minute into round 9.
Next Fight: Unknown
Macklin and Lee both called Sergio out immediately after his less than dominant victory over Barker, as has Pirog- whose offer to fight Sergio in Moscow is reportedly some kind of record. Sergio expressed interest in the winner of Cotto-Margarito, and also shot down any suggestion of him moving up to 168. I assume he would still like to fight Chavez, as well.

The next night in Neuquen, Argentina, Billi Godoy- in seeking to clear up any residual controversy from a riot-inducing technical decision win from the spring- really just treaded water, as the result of this fight- though evidently less controversial- was an even shorter technical decision over just 4 rounds.
Adama surprisingly moves up just one place to #11 due to #10 Anthony Mundine’s impressive resume. Karmazin, even with the brutal loss, gains a #14 rating due to his return to activity and his past accomplishments. Max Bursak slips to #12 as a result of Adama’s advancement, and everybody rated #14 or below last week is forced down one. Darren Barker is forced out after being an inaugural member of my rankings 37 weeks ago.
