Junior Middleweight: 2012, Jan 23-29

#11 Gabriel Rosado put on a hell of a performance in Philadelphia in the co-feature for  the debut of NBC Sports Network’s new “Fight Night” series.  He was fast, powerful, and sharp in general.  Jesus Soto Karass was game and tough as always, but he was badly outgunned, and was stopped in the 5th after a thorough beating in that round and the one before.  I don’t believe it’s possible to look any better over 5 rounds against good competition than Rosado did.

Rosado’s big win- maybe only the 3rd best of his career in terms of level of opposition- bumps him up 2 spots to #9.  He fails to eclipse Ryan Rhodes in a close call because of the fact that Rhodes has beaten a top 10 contender and Rosado has not, as well as the fact that Rosado lost t a low-level opponent in Joshua Onyango nearly 5 years ago.  Austin Trout is forced to #10, while Sechew Powell drops to #11 after 7 weeks in the top 10.
